Used to lie in bed on a night when i was a kid in the 60's and hear the Souter fog horn going off in Hebburn. Must have been one of the loneliest sounds in the world but i loved hearing it. Nowadays it takes me all my time to hear my alarm clock going off of a morning from three feet away.
