I always thought the approach to the footbridge was an extension of Station Street, as the bend in the vicinity of the War Memorial is slightly less acute than the bend from Clayton Street. I'm pretty sure that the Area Pools Office in the pic used to be O'Rourke's bookshop after they moved from North Street.
