Re: Christening " piece"
Yes Elizabeth. This has happened to me just once and I remember exactly where I was. Aged about 14, I was talking to a girl (Jean Collins) at the corner of Black Road and Hedgeley Road Hebburn, when a group of adults came by with a baby in arms. One of the women in the group gave me this little parcel and off they went. I lived in Black Road and took the parcel to my mum who explained what it was. She said the baby must have been a girl. Inside the parcel was a little book, some cake and a small amount of money. This happened about 1951 - 70 years ago. If that little girl knows who she is - I hope I brought you good health and happiness. I remember you but unfortunately you wont remember me. You will be 70 now.
