I agree about the buildings but under the surface many people were on poor wages. living in unsatisfactory conditions often without proper personal care facilities and no indoor water heating.
Until 1948 healthcare had to be paid for. Early death was not unusual. Etc Etc
But despite that people just got on with it.....!
But I live in today and thank the Lord for all that we have........it isnt perfect....but.....!!
