Yes it is. We have often stayed at De Panne just over the boarder in Belgium.

Plenty places to visit, old fortified towns etc. You can get a train and go to Brugge, Gent Etc. Have do that, a doddle.

There are the WW1 battlefields plus WW11 Blockhaus and Coupole. Agincourt and Cressy not far away.

Quite a few of these still on my to do list when not heading to the South of France.
