Wednesday header of a long gone Jarrow church

This is the original St Peter's Church which we passed on the way down to the Pedestrian Tunnel.
The steeple wasn't pointed in my day as during WW2 something happened and knocked quite a bit of the steeple off. I'm not sure but think a barrage balloon crashed into it. I'm sure our Jarrow expert's will know more. Today St Peter's Church is on York Ave and has been there many many years
