Why Fri. Car has had its 9th MOT and gets its 9th years service on Tuesday. Also it looks as if there is going to be quite a few fine days next week so will get out on the bikes.
Just for me to get right under the car after 4 years is a great achievement for me. My shoulder and back problems much eased due to all the logging I have been doing.
I had either the front or rear wheels up on 4 blocks but did not use my proper ramps.
Am I qualified to check over the car ? Letís say I am a good out of practice amateur. I used to do all my own servicing in the 60/70ís, engine and gearbox rebuilds, bodywork repairs and paint spraying.
I reduced that type of work when I qualified as a 2nd class diver and then took on the maintenance of our dive clubs 3 Rib dive boats for 4 years.
Of course the skills required today to service a car are very much the same BUT the electronics prevent that. The amount of sensors is staggering now. Things have to be done in a certain order or you can be locked out of the systems.
On modern cars like BMW etc the car is being check and recorded in Germany over the internet. All the servicing done and recorded on video at every stage.
The equipment and tools required cost £.
