My cousin Monica Sutherland nee Dent ran that middle shop as a Ladies Hairdressers in the 1960s. The shop on the same side on Lyon St corner was Lagan's. Colin McAllister might verify it as he helped deliver their paraffin.
Directly over Lyon St from Hewisons was a Greengrocers called Dennis's with a Chemist next door. McMurchie's the Cobbler's were at 17 Tyne St beside Davisons Pawn Shop. In the records there was a cobbler's called Hudson on Lyon St but I cant remember it.
