The steps to the top were on the Mill Lane side about 2/3 of the way down from Victoria Rd West.

If I remember correctly between the steps and the fence to the opposite end to Victoria Rd West there may have been a building. Watchmans hut or house, there appeared to be some old foundations.

On the top there were vent pipes say 6” in dia which had pointed caps on them. A lot of these were smashed by I assume the kids of yesteryear.

I cannot remember ever seeing it empty of water, the surface of the water from memory was about 5-6’ below the outer ground level. The floor level I think was about 10-12’ down from outer ground level. My memory could be flawed though, it was over 65 years ago.

I wonder if there are some building plans still to be found ?
