Originally it was out in fields and then gradually enveloped by housing. Due to complaints from householders the company had to stop to night shift and then overtime in the evening.
The company then built itself a new factory out near the A1.
Due to the 1988 crash in the construction industry the end result was that it closed down in 1992. The expense of moving premises was just too much.
I have seen this happen to a lot of companies, housing envelopes factories which are heavy industry and they have to close as the householders complain about the noise or traffic etc.
No doubt thatís what A&P are fearful of.
