1: Talktalk will identify the last 30 numbers YOU called and put them on a cleared list.
2: ALL other callers who ring you will go through a security check BEFORE the call reaches you.
3. If it is NOT on the list, the caller must give their name to the controller who will offer YOU the choice to:-
a) listen to the caller give their name and Press key 1 to accept this caller and add them to your approved list and the call can go ahead and all future calls from this caller will not be subject to this scrutiny.
b) Press key 2 to accept this caller on this occasion only and the call can go ahead but the caller will be subject to the same security check again in future.
c) Press key 3 to deny this caller who WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RING YOU AGAIN unless you modify the denial.
From being inundated with scam calls every day, I immediately cut that phenomenal number to zero. It has been that way for 2 -3 years now. You have the opportunity to review the list and modify as required. Talktalk got something VERY right. Surely the other suppliers can do this. IT IS FREE. It is terrible that you should have to unplug your phone - and in my experience, unnecessary. If your present supplier cannot help I would suggest, you go to Talktalk immediately. It's probably cheaper anyway.
Remember. If your phone rings from a spurious number, all you will hear is a controller saying " You have a call from".. the caller will then give their RECORDED NAME. He or she does not speak with you directly and YOU choose to accept full time, accept on this occasion only or deny all future calls. It's a doddle.
You have my number and if you wish, I am here to help. Of course, you may be subject to the security check. If so you will see just how slick it is.
