The header today of the great liner Mauritania is full of character. The very name sounds magnificent. Why "Mauritania"? I Assume the ship was named after the country in Africa which now now goes by the grand title of the "Islamic Republic of Mauritania". My interest increased when I found this country has 800,000 slaves the majority of whom are black. Please note my last sentence is written in the present tense. Almost one fifth of the population are black slaves. A person born of a slave is a slave. The country has one religion and no one of another religion can become a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. Where are all the brave self righteous who would destroy or disfigure Britain's buildings and statues when there are symbols of present day slavery increasing daily. I would imagine these great believers in BLM could have a field day in Bradford, Halifax and Dewsbury. While slavery was abolished over 150 years ago in the British Empire, the abomination continues to thrive in many Islamic States today.
