Now if you had said that in the first place Allan I would have agreed that it does apply if you are staying with friends or family for less than three months but not hotels, camping gounds etc where the lower rated Taxe de Sejour applies.
So Allan what you will be charged at Camping grounds is between €0.40 and 0.80 pp per night.....a pittance compared to the price of your diesel!
I cannot see it being widely applied. The French are pretty good at ignoring petty regulations. Especially any regulation that prevent them from doing tourist business. And Foreign owners will I suspect invite their guests to stay for more than three months....and then, surprise, they may have to go home early!!!!
Dont worry about it Allan. There used to be a similar, widely ignored, rule in Portugal!
At Government level the Frogs can be totally petty without realising the value of tourism to their economy.
