I recall that in the late 40's early 50's Alf had the "band/music stands" made for my Dad's 12 piece orchestra. I can see them now, triangular, Red and Silver with HC on them. Trendy at the time of the big band era.
I suspect that he also supplied an early electric keyboard in the late 50's.
And yes he had a record shop in Jarrow. At one time on Albert Rd and then on York St/Bede Burn road. He had a cracking music club into which you put 2/6 a week and got to buy records which were 6/8 at the time. I recall that you were allowed to buy 3 under the scheme until you made the 8 payments which paid them off. There are not many lads in Jarrow of my age who didnt go to Alf.
