A lot of people think that a rescue you is just 6 men on high speed boat is a lot more to it. Every crew man has to undergo strict rigorous training and tests at Poole in Dorset. Glass for full crew they are not just a crew but a family. If anyone has even even a personal problem the crew work together because it would be dangerous having a man on a rescue with a problem on his mind. Hartlepool woman pride of Britain in 2013 when our lads risked their own lives in quicksand trying to pull a guy out of it. Our crew were only saved when the fire services used high pressure hoses underwater to free the lads. We do have visits to the station for the public and people are very welcome to come and see us.
As for the money we collect lots of cheques are made out to the individual station. Each offshore boat costs around 5 million pounds fully kitted.
Sadly there is a lot of politics involved at the top with many organisations and this is one thing we do not like to see.
