I am just a little confused: is the sender of the photo (Carol Radford) the same person as "Carol in Hampshire" that posts on here?
I posted, on May 17th, a reply to "Carol in Hampshire", detailing some of her family tree (we ARE distantly related). I didn't get a reply.
As to the photo, I haven't seen it before, however, if that IS Catherine Lavery (1878-1912) then one could assume (as it is clearly a family group shot) that the standing male is her husband Joseph Bones Donkin. And their 4 children: George, Marian, Elizabeth & Julie. The eldest is clearly male, the next eldest clearly female.
Catherine Lavery was a younger sister to Thomas Lavery (1866-1940) who was my Great grandfather.
Perhaps Carol, or her cousin, could elaborate as to why they think that the photo is of their grandfather (Joseph Bones Donkin)?
