Thankfully our Diving Club in Harrogate had no such problems, if fact the bar takings financed the purchase of. Club dive training equipment, and at one stage 3 RIB dive boats fully quipped. They were expensive to run and maintain.
I know as was the boat office for many years.
The dive club lost its club room to a developer and just does not have the income it did.
A question to ask at the next AGM. Now there’s a thing. Our AGM’s tended to be a bit lively, my expenditure on the boats, that for maintaining the club room. The bar sec. and the treasurer alway had loads of questions when they raised the fees and bar prices.
Bar prices were always at pub prices. The fees for membership was high, part to BSAC HQ. Your dive insurance included plus that for the Club or Branch fees.
Cannot remember how much it cost but by 2008 I was paying maybe £150 per year. It was a bargain for what we got out of it.
