Many years ago my brother (Fred B, who posts on the board) told me that he thought it would be a good idea to arrange for the family history group to visit The Mining Institute at Newcastle (The North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers) and mentioned Neville Hall. I duly telephoned and asked the lady who replied if I could speak to Neville Hall at which point I could hear her trying very hard to suppress her laughing. I asked if I should go off and ring again and she assured me that, given two minutes, she would be back in control. It was then she told me that Neville Hall was the name of the building not someone working there. Ever felt yourself blushing when there wasn’t anyone there to see?
That was me . The visit was well worth it with so many interesting things to see and read.
I take this opportunity to thank George for his very kind words. I have to say that I am not a ‘Professional’ genealogist but someone who really enjoys doing the research and then hopefully present it professionally.
