Another couple of News Stories from Richard Jennings's booklet

Felling man & Methodist Archivist Richard Jennings died a few days ago so here are a few more of historical news stories from his booklet published in 2015.
5th Aug 1919. A man and his dog, Thomas Astley (38) fell down a disused pumping shaft at the Friars Goose Colliery.It took 4 days for the bodies to be recovered,
6th Aug 1917. Wanted for Windy Nook School. Caretaker at £1-12s per week with War Bonus together with a free house,gas,coals etc.
8th Aug 1890. A party of 5 people from Wardley Colliery who went out in a boat at Roker, missing since 26th July have been found. The decomposed bodies have been washed ashore near Marsden Rock.
