I have been writing them down for my grandchildren who will never ask me about them until it is too late. They may get a shock because it pulls no punches…for instance….
One day, when I was very young, I walked down those railway sidings that led into the Bede Metal with an equally young girl from Harvey Street (no names, no pack drill…but I still remember it). The offer still stands and I even went a stage further and straightened her handle bars.
