Thank you so much for the e.mail and all your news. I'm afraid I haven't been on the computer much these days. The last 18 months have been pretty depressing with everything closed down until lately. I haven't been to a grocery store in the last 18 months. The neighbour uses their computer to order groceries from Walmart and picks them up at the front of the store where employees pack them into their car. I'm so grateful for their help.
Things are opening up now but I'm afraid the Covid numbers are rising rapidly and I'm afraid will continue to do so now that people are going to places where there are congregations -- like football matches and the beaches. Even the Broadway shows are coming back on this week. Now that the children are back to school this week there will be more. Parents are not agreeing to the mask precautions in some schools. It's very scary. . I've had the two shots and the booster will be given to us in October or early November.
That's not the only concern in many places about the country. More gun violence!! They say its because people have been locked up for so long.
The weather here has been very hot and humid all Summer. One day last week it was 101F. Don't know what that is in centigrade. Its mid September and is to be 90 tomorrow with high humidity. Its been in the 80s and 90s all Summer. Its been too hot for me all year and I've spent much of the year inside. I believe the weather in the UK has changed. I remember when 65F was a hot summer day for us in the NE. with the wind howling!! Long time ago.
I was really surprised to learn that the Half Way House in Felling has been converted into apartments and I cannot imagine the Beeswing is too. I imagine the place is very different from my time there.. I wonder what the people are like who would live in an apartment in the Beeswing.
There are 1600 people living in the facility where I live and 97% of them have been vaccinated. We have only one person with Covid (isolated) and 3 outside help who now stay at home. They have done a good job making sure we followed guide lines set up for us. They closed the indoor swimming pool, the gym, the cinema, meeting rooms and stores and gave us information virtually by the TV programme we have here. However they have opened up trips where we still have to follow rules but they had the first yesterday and I went. It was to a big restaurant near the beach where they give meals and have a Broadway type show at lunch time. It was good to get out. It was run by the
Doolan brothers who own it and are Irish. They named the event "Halfway to St. Paddies Day". It was so much fun. The food was excellent; among which was corned beef and cabbage. They had an Irish comedian and an Irish bagpiper dressed in an Irish kilt. All the help was wearing masks and a lot of the visitors too so, I hope all is well with us.
As far as my health? I fell and broke my shoulder bone 4 weeks ago. I couldn't move it at all but now I'm able to a little. Not that I can raise it much and it's still painful. Not as much as it was, thankfully.
Anyhow that's all for now. I'm so glad that all is well with you and your family.
All the best,
