1. The clay pit that Allan and friends called Wardley Quarry was filled in and no longer exists.
2. That same clay pit was associated with the old Pelaw Brick Works.
3. The clay pit being preserved by Shirley and friends is called Pelaw Quarry Pond and is NOT the one that Allan calls Wardley Quarry.
4. Norman thinks that the ‘preserved’ pond probably takes its name from the old Pelaw Brick Works site…which sounds OK.
I am. not familiar with that area but I can see where all the confusion lies because Pelaw is some distance from this Wardley area.
Can we ask James to photograph it and, better still, have someone place it on a modern map just to see where these two ponds fit into the picture.
I like this kind of thread because it harks back to what the forum used to be like before Covid/Brexit snarled everything up.
