Thursday's header looking into old Carr St 1920s

Today's header as I've wrote below the photo was taken from close to the old pit wall and the wooden doors through the wall into the Mortuary. Carr St was a main shopping street in the 1800s through to the early 1900s. I can remember a number of shops still trading there in the very late 40s eg Fionda's Ice cream parlour on the left, Firths Shop just across from them and a bit further was Wards Drapery. I remember going into Wards with my Mam, and it was just like a shop in Beamish Museum.
