Of course they will have to toe The Party Line, that was the impression I got some years ago.
When Ann and I were considering moving to Harrogate in late 1968. My father advised me that going south would be a good move. He had already moved to Bill Quay in 1965.
He thought at that time that Hebburn was going down the pan, my words. As he was high up in Reyrolle management at the time we took heed. Not that that made us move but a 50% increase in salary did.
I suspect that he knew info that few others would have as he had contacts all over.
It’s interesting that South Tyneside came into being on the 1st. April 1974 everyone was “Fooled”
Hebburn locals on the board will be far more knowledgeable than me of course.
