Here it is Below,
Dear Kate Osborn & Emma Lewell-Buck,
I am in my 70s, and as you both know, 2 yrs ago we were promised that our BBC Licence fee will be free henceforth. Well It was free for one year but then we were told we have to start paying again.
I call that a ‘dirty unacceptable trick’ because when decent people make a promise they keep it.
As you know, the BBC only get the Licence Fees because many years ago it was their only income.
Today they make a fortune selling programmes to other countries as well as their lucrative Britbox programme.
For 6 years I have been running a Local Forum called ‘Hebburn and our Neighbours’ and below is what was posted recently..
BBC spent £86.8 million on a new set for Eastenders. It was supposed to cost £59 million, those figures are just obscene. An overspend of almost £27million , who authorised these spending sprees? Sorry but the sooner the license fee is abolished the better.
I don’t watch Soaps and can’t believe they waste licence fee money like that.
Surely you MPs must both feel the same as your constituents?
Well this Friday there is a second reading in favour of abolishing the licence fee and moving BBC to a subscription service. A great chance for you MPs to speak up for us constituents.
They don’t rely on the licence fee so it is time to make them stand on their own two feet like ITV do.
If the BBC weren’t guaranteed this yearly income from the Licence fees they would have to run it like a proper business. They wouldn’t be making Presenters & Football Pundits into millionaires or wasting nearly £87 million on a Soap opera set.
I look forward to your replies,
