I like JRM i think he has a very dry sense of humour, I don't think the Civil Servants should be allowed to continue working from home, I bet quite a few of them are receiving London Allowances even though they are not travelling into the office.

I don't think they will leave their cushy little jobs with all of tge benefits they receive, also the Pendion that awaits them when they are able to retire quite early.

Working from home - borh my husband and I worked from home for many years, we had a dedicated office, we always ensured we were at our desks by latest 9am earlier if we had to make or receive calls to other parts of the world, in my case usually with the Far East, my husband worked with all areas so it was whenever needed he was at his desk at all hours. We also had to travel into London from time to time, sometimes it was a 6 hour round trip but we did it, I think you have to have a proper routine though and not all areas of coomerce are suited to workimg from home.
