From what I saw brought back many memories many happy ones,at my time at Clegwell 1950-55where Tuesdays was a day of your choice of activities, wether you were sporty, singing, woodwork, metal work, gymnastics, football, gardening, yes we had our own garden right in the middle of the school which cut us off from the girls,Paddy Norman was head Gardener.
Our maths teacher,a mr Armstrong, had a bycicle class,l am sure our Allan Campbell would have made that his no 1 choice.I must not forget the art class they did fantastic work on the stage scenery which took many months to make,as did the Opera, and rehearsals.
In conclusion the operas were performed over 5 nights, each night, every night boys parents helped with make up,dressing etc,it's just a shame there was no music words with the film.
There was a few from my class Jimmy Snell,Jimmy was a princepal Peter Wickwood,George Cowell,Mick Bonser,Maurice Crew,George Gowens,Peter Atkins,Alan Wappat,Peter Emmison,Ronnie Robinson, big bob Robert Nicholson,Jackie Alexander,David Qwensell, just to name a few,one lad who was a bit older than me was a lad called Bob Shepherd he was such a great singer was always a princepal in many of the Oprashe used to sing often to the whole school at assembally.,Bob served his time in Palmers the same time as my self,Glegwell was a great school such happy memories from my time there,it gave me such a good education and foundation for the future in those early post war days,ps lwonder how many of my school friends are still around?
Cheers.
