Re: JRM & the message
The Town Moor land is protected and is under the auspices for better or worse by the city Freeman, you do have some parks on Moor land,Nuns Moor Park, Exhibition Park and Leazes Park most of it is open pasture, what is galling is that two large allotment sites have been reclaimed by the Freeman one being there for more than 100 years, they have also chopped down trees allegedly by mistake but the replacement trees were paid for by the City Council so in reality the people of Newcastle paid for the environmental mistakes of the Freeman. The moors are actually bigger than New Yorks Central Park, and were also the site of the hanging of 15 witches in 1650.But no houses are being built on Moor land, Gosforth Park is what you might be thinking of.
