I was involved in a radio debate about 20 years back about reducing MPs to counties and Metropolitan authorities, the guy proposing it still thought it was too much, so everyone else including the Tory Councillor from Northumberland weighed in against him we suggested it just go back to Lords of the Manor so we could all tug our forelocks as they went past, he got so angry he flung his mic and walked out. The debate then became a lot more civilised and sensible.
