Don't write him off he is quite a good actor, they are going to continually change the Doctor more radically hence the first female Doctor. There was talk of a gay Doctor before this new one. And as he/she regenerates without control it gives them free reign to be as extreme as they wish in their choice. The figures have been slowly dropping since David Tennant left, and storylines have gone through a phase of indifferent largely unimaginative stories. Unless the storylines improve I think regardless of who the Doctor is it might bite the dust in the next few years.
