23rd of September 1976 I was a 2nd year apprentice in Wallsend yard at the time just out of the training school a few weeks when the Glasgow caught fire, eight men died tragically that day. It opened my eyes to the environment I would spend my working life in. I have a reminder In my phone now so at least once a year I remember these lads who were just like me but were so unlucky to lose there life that day. The very next day another man died in the Neptune taking the loss of life to nine.
