Re: Friday's Header of a 1923 Leslie's Advert
Large ships supertankers were no longer required with the reopening of the Suez Canal in 1975, size of ships was not a problem. Demarcation was never a problem in my time there, young Platers and Shipwrights were using burning and welding equipment more and more frequently and older Tradesmen were always well looked after. We had no strikes of any notice in my time there and were not the militant people history is making them out to be. I found demarcation was a far bigger problem years later in the profitable William Press, AMEC yards than ever in the shipyards.
