My New Jersey friend,Hebburn expat Bill Wallace put the last Ballast Hill photo onto a FB site (with my permission as usual) and it drew lots of comments.

I knew those streets well as a kid as I lived in Lyon St until we moved in 1953. When I was about 7 in 1951 ish I helped my mates older brother Derek Morton with the paper round he did for Winnie Gallagher. (Her Paper shop was on Lyon-Bewick St corner). I delivered his papers in all those streets.
When my wife hears what I got upto as a kid she's amazed because her and her siblings werent allowed out of the street at 7 .
