Davy, If that was the case there is still no sign of a boarding stage at the bottom of the wall in the photo. In my time access was always at the bottom of Bonnacard Street via a turnstile for payment and then down a ramp to the landing stage. It’s a pity my father is not still alive as he worked on the ferries as a rope boy and actually saved a man’s life after he had jumped from the ferry and missed the landing at Walker, the man could not swim and dad jumped in and saved him. He was awarded a pocket watch and Certificate from The Life Saving Society and the man’s parents bought dad a pair of boots.
