About 65 yrs ago, my parents used to take me to the Palace in Newcastle for the Christmas panto. Every year I saw Denny Willis the Scottish comedian who always got knocked about. Today I still watch him on you tube with the barber shop quartet doing the Hunting Song. Split second timing and just as funny today. He's a real music hall act that lives on. Seen it hundreds of times but I still laugh as much. I spoke to Roy Hudd many many years ago when Balmbras closed. He kindly told me not to venture into reviving it as the place would never prosper. Today it is a relic.Sad really.
