As a little lad I remember Mrs Melia (Margaret) from the late 1940s into the 50s. They lived in William St along our Lyon St-William St backlane at its junction with Bewick St. Her husband was a big tall white haired Irishman (Tom I think) . I remember they kept chickens in the back yard. Their son John married Mary Campbell daughter of a Scottish 'Piper' who lived in the Newtown.
