Strikes me that it is not 1951 because at that time hordes of young men were not illegally crossing the channel in rubber dinghy's from a safe country, ie France.
Just 7 years before that it was our boys crossing the channel to save France but all that is forgotten. It seems that in the minds of some it is GB's responsibilty to look after all these people at our expense.
