Lilian, it’s European Convention of Human Rights.(ECHR) it was put together after WW2 to protect all people from the terrible treatment the Jews et al suffered. Churchill was part of the group but didn’t think we needed it as we had the Magna Carta. So it was never written into our laws. Tony Blair decided to sign it into our law, so that’s why we hear so much about it now. America also didn’t think it needed to sign it into law. It is separate from the EU.
