While I hope that you are able to get a display set up in the Hub or elsewhere to will not solve the problem of the long term availability of all your photo collection.
Without you being around to push things it would just fade away and be lost. Some bright spark would come along and just clear it all away.
The only solution to my mind is the Discovery Museum in Newcastle so that it could be accessed digitally for years.
We older members of the board are getting less and less and in 5-10 years most of us will be gone or not able to visit the board.
What started off my thoughts of your photo collection is that I have been thinking in terms of my own collection of family photos trying to write up just my Campbell family history in Hebburn from 1885/6 up to 2011 when the last of my Campbellís died ( Dadís sister). The family that are still alive, are here in Harrogate, in Cambridgeshire and OZ.
My son is the last of my Campbell line and he has regretfully no children ie sonís to pass on the family name.
The other branchís a) Grandfathers younger brother William left Hebburn for Glasgow around 1912/14 and are huge and spread all over. It appears that only through Willie will our Campbell name be passed on.
b) The youngest brother John left Hebburn to live in Toronto in 1956. Many of the older board members appear to have known him as he was an insurance collector. I suspect that he was one of those men that our grandparents, parents paid a weekly sum of money of ? What that was for I never knew.
Anyway to write all it up is going to be a huge task and I have my doubts that I could actually do it.
I have to start the groundwork for it this year or it will not happen.
Ah well is it going to be a good day for a bike ride ?
