They are the most efficient engines of that type in the world. They Run Up to 15,000 rpm.
Of course they have power regeneration as well to power the electric motors.
A friend that we meet down in the south of France has a Mercedes 2 litre estate managed 60 mpg over 650 miles doing that in 2 days driving. She just had herself and father plus bike and luggage in the car.
My Sorento I think would struggle to get above 35 mpg. but never done that type of journey I know not !
Both are 4x4 but mine a SUV crap aerodynamics against a superbly designed car.
Although her car is a diesel some of the engine design from F1 engines will be used in her engine.
Way back, there was always gadgets to reduce fuel consumption etc. Petrol companies were deemed to buy up these gadgets. One wonders if true and how good or otherwise they were.
