I am not happy for people to decide not to pay their bill just for the sake of futile objection but I am concerned for those who GENUINELY cant pay.
Huge profit. Mmmm? But remember the HUGE investment that goes into surveying and drilling before any profit is produced. And the Oil Companies..BP alone made massive losses during the peak of Covid..... $18bn in 2020, $20Bn in 21. They have just written off the value of their Russian Assets as a result of the war....$25bn. You dont mention that!
And the price at the pump isnt set by the oil companies except at their own forecourts and they can easily be avoided.
Yes there is the issue of bonuses and I am with you on that. They may seem huge. That for the BP Chief at $2.4M is a lot but in the scheme of things it is a drop in the ocean.
I follow finance. I am comfortable with its itricacies.
I receive income from my investments and my Company pension and annuities derive from dividends. That goes for people who worked in the mines, on the railways, nurses , doctors the list is endless.
I do not subscribe to the Socialist view of "rip-off Britain". Maybe a spell under the hand of Putin or Xi Jinping would be a relief for some.
