The $ is the currency of safety in times of trouble and this would affect whichever party was in power. It is doing what one would expect.
Since the announcement of the plan there has been lots of negativity in the media. It needs time to work.
All this posturing by politicians about the "rich" benefitting misses the bigger picture. The 45% tax rate only raised about £2Bn which is a drop in the ocean financially. But it costs the country in terms of what is called invisible earnings. So we need to compete with the EU who are trying to steal the market from the city of london.
