Jarrow and Hebburn are alike, the heart ripped out and replaced with "bland". Many other towns up and down the UK have suffered the same fate.
That isnt to say that the new housing isnt needed or doesnt provide a better quality of life. It is and does.
I am not suggesting that old, useless, buildings should have been retained for old times sake but the opportunity to retain, or rebuild, a worthwhile attractive town centre was lost years ago when Jarrows faceless Arndale was opened followed by the dreadful Hebburn version.
