I can remember the shaft and the timbers that looked just like long railway sleepers but I can’t remember any attempt to fill the shaft or even cover it securely— maybe it has just been covered with vegetation over time .The position of the shaft as I recall is just outside the new estate .let’s hope it isn’t found by some innocent children.
