Re: Old photos from Reyrolles related/sports
Norman, my Dad either worked for Reyrolles or got the contracts abroad through Reyrolles. Tale as old as time, people travel fall in love and so on. There's many albums to scan. Yesterday's batch were ones I could not get out of the albums and I'm doing it from my phone, limited eyesight, limited time. We celebrate people who have done well for themselves. My Dad was a little lad from Tynemouth Road, born in Felling, lost his Dad when he was 2 to the war. His Dad was a Royal Marine. My Dad is now a retired author and historian, still living in the Bahamas as its where he settled. He was a local sportsman back in the day and participated in sport or coached. A few board members have enjoyed his writing and sports connection. It was a contribution to the board from a local contributor, nothing more, nothing less. I have always shared my finds freely. The clue was in the title, Reyrolles/ sports related. There will be more. As and when I have time, I will pad it out with better tales, and hopefully better quality pictures. I'm a great believer of "the moral of the story is" be kind, not everything stands the test of time, particularly old photos in albums!
