This Rachel Lewis had been a school teacher but then worked in the GWR offices at Port Talbot, her records there are online from 1916 until about 1922 when there was a change by a Railway Act.
Rachel Lewis I understand would come up to Hebburn to visit my G G/M Morris nee Lewis but also she and my Great Aunt Maggie Campbell ( G/F Campbell’s sister) would go away on holiday.
They both were spinsters and I can only assume that they became friends through my G/ Pts. When Rachel came up to visit.
The big puzzle is how are the two Lewis families connected. It must be close relations for Rachel to visit G G/M Mary Lewis as she was before becoming a Morris. A lot of letter writing involved.
I have dug back but there are loads of Lewis families in South Wales. It’s going to be a big job to find the link. It could be that two lines of the Lewis family lived near each other for many years and the actual link is way back in the past.
It’s a project to tackle in the future. Why did I not ask questions back in the late 50’s!
