I have been intouch with the Council department that are overseeing the Mine Water scheme this morning and asked for an update.
Here is the reply received within half an hour of asking.
As I said in my earlier post this is just a hiccup and it will get sorted.

We are currently assessing standing water tests in the boreholes. The drilling company has left site because this stage of their work is complete. It was always envisaged that heat for the network would be provided using a combination of water source (from mine water) and air source heat pumps. This is still the intention.
