Re: Keeping warm over winter - cupboard beds
There was no central heating in our new council house In 1950/51 I remember being weight down with blankets(remember them) my Mum telling me it was time to get up for work. Counting totem and running into the bathroom that was freezing. Then going down stairs where my dear mother had been up hours earlier to make sure there was a roaring fire and porridge for breakfast. My brothers worked in Leslie’s shipyard and there was always a fire to make sure they were warm before they went to work.
