I remember walking along to those Pelaw Main staiths in the late 1940s early 50s and seeing boats from Denmark & Poland loading coal. The tennants Chemical works had left Hebburn and all their buildings had gone leaving just bare land.
Tharsis Copperworks were also finished here but they left a large part demolished building and as I've said before, a deep dangerous reservoir that at least 3 people drowned in.
