If allowed to carry on as before he would have been subject to an absolutely crazy press hounding everywhere he went as would the club what would his mental health been like then? As two charges are heading back to court by the looks of it he and the club are still in the same position as before albeit with less charges than before. Its not my view about the money its simply fact, the club will have no legal reason to with hold outstanding monies owed to him as per his contract.
